What Smaran is
The craft hasn’t changed. What’s hidden inside has.
Every piece starts the way our workshop has worked for three decades: a block of wood, a chisel, and a karigar’s hand. Then three things make it yours.
The name and the date
Their name engraved into the wood beneath the ring, with a special date below it. Watch it burn in live as you type.
The hidden memory
Your video lives inside the piece. Hold a phone to the wood and the moment plays on the screen, for as long as the piece exists. Nothing to charge.

Choose a piece
Pick from the collection. Every piece is carved from solid wood by our karigars in Saharanpur, then finished by hand.

Add the photo, the name and the date
Upload the photo that belongs behind the brass ring and position it just so. Then type the name and the special date we will engrave into the wood.

Record a memory
A video of first steps, a laugh, a message from a grandparent. Up to 150 MB. It is kept private and only ever plays from this piece.

We carve, engrave and seal it in
The name and date are engraved, the photo is set behind the ring, and the memory is sealed inside the wood by hand. Invisible from the outside, permanent on the inside.

The craft
A Saharanpur workshop, back at the bench.
Saharanpur has carved wood for longer than anyone in it can remember first-hand. Reshma Handicrafts has been part of that since 1995: frames, boxes and panels, carved the same way each time, by hand, and shipped to homes on four continents.
Smaran is how the workshop is starting again. The same karigars, the same wood, and one new idea sealed inside it.
